First of all, I hope you’re feeling alot better now. That food you showed, that didn’t look appitizing to me AT ALL!! Was it any good?? I guess that is one of the disadvantages of Backpacking around the World by yourself. I’m sure you expected that at some point!! That’s an interesting bathroom also!! Bathroom with no toilet paper?? Okay then….Was the shower just open to the rest of the bathroom?? That’s what it looked like!!

Second of all, I like the new idea of the “Next time on Backpack with Brock”. It makes it look like some kind of TV show!! I should’ve stopped when I read that caption on this video, but most of it was good….

All the sudden, I appriciate Canada so much more now!! =) Have a good time in Thailand!!!!

@Ryan – Hey Ryan, what a great comment. Thank you again. First off, yes, I am feeling better. The food was good actually. I expected to feel sick at that point but was not ready for it when I did. As for the bathroom – yes, they don’t generally use toilet paper, there’s a little spray hose instead and the shower is open to the rest of the bathroom. It’s pretty near and different.
I’m glad you like the ‘Next Time.’ I think its a nice touch. Take care.

Crazy. I slept in that Bangkok airport for about 6 hours and the air-conditioning is crazzy cold! It’s a great airport to sleep in, but backpackers beware: have an extra layer or two of clothing ’cause it’s cold! Me and some Europeans were cuddled in a corner with minor hypothermia all night!

And gawd: you are actually GREEN when you were sick!

VERY important word to know when travelling: “bathroom” or “washroom” or “toilet” in whatever native tongue they speak so if you’re out and you’re sick someone will know that you’re looking for the “loo” to throw-up in!
And some toilet paper in your bag can always come in handy.

Get well soon, Brock! Maybe your stomach will be accustomed and Delhi Belly won’t hit you so hard when you get there!

Hey Brock!! your vidseos are getting better and better! I agree with Ryan they seem like a TV show!
and i hope you dont get too turned off the food because of the “incident”- i think its only a matter of time till you find something amazing…

i have a few suggestions for friday 5:
    1) top local experiences in the country/ city
    2) random things you’ve seen
    3) most impressive things you’ve seen- could be a beautiful building or amount of ppl in an area

Keep it coming, im addicted!!! :)

Brock!!! I LOVE the new format you have for your vids, they work a bit better I think than the ones before (not that the earlier ones weren’t amazing).
I hope your stomach is feeling better by now and that Ko Samui isn’t kicking your ass too much ;) .

  6. admin February 18, 2010 at 11:28 am #

@Joel – Thanks buddy. I fully agree they are an improvement. As for the stomach…we’re back on track although the Samui Buckets are putting that at risk.

@Katie – Great feedback Katie. I will test those ideas out. I am getting better with the food. LOVE the Pad Thai.

    Hey Brock,
WOW! You’re in Asia, nouveau cultural experiences. Hope you feel better, very graphic. Hopefully, the belly has climatized to the your new cultural environment. Room didn’t seem bad, esp. for $8 until you were kneeling on the floor, worshipping the porcelin god!

Do like the new video format, love to see what you are seeing and the voice overs work really well!

@Darren – Oh gosh, I hope this was a prep for Delhi Belly. I am green, its sort of gross and toilet paper…I don’t leave home without it. Or else it does get ‘handy’.

    Hi Brock,

I don’t follow your site regularly, but every once and a while I pop over to see what your up to. I’m quite impressed with the new vids, very nicely done!

I laughed out loud when you were sick; I know its not funny, but you took me by surprise! I hope you are feeling better. Oh, in case Darren forgot to mentioned it, if you need a free place to crash in London UK your welcome on my couch!

Keep it coming, and feel free to put in the real side of backpacking… Are you getting sick of wearing the same clothes? That was my biggest issue…
    Brent

@Brent – Thanks so much for tuning in. I might very well take you up on that London town offer. As for the ‘real side’. Ya, I see a video or two in the next little while. Sick of wearing the same clothes and sick of washing them in the sink. Gah!

  12. admin February 18, 2010 at 6:05 pm #

@Teresa – Yes, very nouveau. I think my stomach has adjusted. I eat Pad Thai every day. I’ll be sure to keep the new format up. How often would you like to see new videos?

  13. Dave February 19, 2010 at 9:33 am #

I like the new format too, especially the preview of what’s coming next. I’d rather see a few videos like this per week (say 2-3) then the older ones more often.

ya crazy brock, you’ve been to asia.
MARKHAM IS ASIA! haha just kidding

    STAY SAFE!!

  15. admin February 19, 2010 at 5:16 pm #

    @Ruby – Point taken.

  16. admin February 19, 2010 at 5:16 pm #

@Dave – I completely agree Dave. The new format does take quite a bit more time so 2-3 per week might be all I can manage. That said, myabe folks don’t want to see more then that…
