Part of traveling is getting lost, but so is losing stuff. This week, I’m counting down the 5 things I’ve already lost on this trip.

I lost my dignity in the many beer halls in Munich! lol
I “lost” my travel alarm clock on my first night on my first trip to Europe. I love hostels, but you do have to be careful sometimes when you leave stuff out in the open!
Jenn was shocked to hear about your water bottle. She said it was very sad. I think the most important thing that I’ve lost while traveling with my kids is my mind! Hopefully, we don’t lose anything important as we ski off to Banff this week. We’ll enjoy the mountains and snow while you continue to enjoy the heat and the cultural experience. Don’t you want your driver’s license in case another Hippie Van opportunity arises?
It was unfortunate when I found out that you lost your water bottle!! Your loved that bottle so much. So you still have that other thing that cleans the water (?).
Losing your driver’s license is kinda bad, but at least you can’t use it there, like you said. Try not to lose to much more.
Hi Brock, thanks for keeping us updated on your adventures abroad. Sorry to hear about your loses and hope you are keeping well hydrated, keeps you mentally alert among other very important things! (Hope I don’t sound like a mum)! Wonder if you should possibly report your license as lost/stolen? We hear of so much identity theft these days
.. Keep on taking care out there, you are one lucky guy to have such an amazing adventure!
P.S. I truly admire your courage, as exciting as backpacking the globe is, I imagine it would also be intimidating and lonely at times! Happy trails to my favorite globe trotter! xo
At least you haven’t lost your camera! Or your laptop to be posting all these wicked videos! HOLD ON TIGHT TO THOSE!
Hey Brock,
It sounds like you are having a great time…does it not drive you crazy as these things go missing!
I lost my swiss army knife in Malawi, Africa and had my camera and 20 rolls of film stolen in Taupo, New Zealand. All my photos of my first trip to Australia and 6 weeks of my Africa travels gone. I searched garbage cans and dumpsters all over the area for the film. So watch your stuff in hostels.
Continue to have a great time!!!
Way to go brock.
Papa Yurek lost his camera on his trip. It would probably suck if that happened to you.
I never lose anything because I’m awesome.
i lost a watch somewhere in St. Paul de Vence
On a Contiki tour in Europe I left my deodorant and face wash at a hostel in Amsterdam. Of course it wouldn’t seem like a big deal, but it seemed like every stop we made there were no stores with either of those items. I finally found some in Munich, at a beauty boutique that cost 30euros. I later found out I really overpaid, but I didn’t want to chance going another day feeling gross.
That really sucks about your water bottle.
@Kate – I still have to work on the dignity – perhaps as I have yet to hit Munich. I have met many a person who’s small items were snatched in hostels too.
@Teresa – Yes, I am still morning that water bottle. As for the license, I am in the process of acquiring a new one for that very reason.
@Ryan – Yes still have the Steripen, now I need a water bottle to make use of it.
@Tanya – thanks for checking in Tan. Yes, it can be a bit lonely, but then you just head of to a temple or cafe or meet a new traveler and appreciate the amazing opportunities around you.
@Darren – Yes, thank goodness for that. I hold on with such vigour.
@Leigh-Ann – it does make me feel a little bonkers yet. This hostel stealing situation is another great reason as to why I LOVE couch surfing. I feel pretty safe with these people and know who took something if something goes missing and that I can take something of equal value until they return it. Not that I would ever do that of course.
@jaclyn – Karma will get you for that comment. I shall wait and see.
@Heather – I also recall you losing some sunglasses if I am not mistaken….
@Alouise – Yes, there is hardly a price to high to feel clean. I will make sure I don’t leave those behind.
