The time has come. After 5 weeks in the little town of Srivilliputtur, Darren and I were finally on the move again. Destination: Goa! We expected things would be pretty wonderful in Goa, but getting there wasn’t so easy. 8 hours by bus and another 19 hours on the worst train I have been on yet. This is our story.

Haha that looks crazy!! 19 hours is a long time on any train, I can’t even imagine what it must have been like…
Goa is a paradise though, so I’m glad you ended up at a nice place
All that work to get there and only 3 days stay? Saw nothing in Kerala?
Also, you said the Joecon’s Beach Resort was “dirt cheap” but how much was is?
I’d also love to hear what “dirt cheap” means.
A few months ago, I stayed in a place for two weeks in the beach town of Gokarna, a little south of Goa, for around $4/night (~200RS).
I LOVED your video. I cracked up numerous times! My claustrophobia flared just from watching!
I’ve had some rough rides (Central America, South America and China), man–really rough–but….yours topped all of them. The worst part, I’m sure, was not being about to get away.
And I really liked the paradise at the end. One must splurge during a long low-budget trip!!
PS: I’m going to post a Chicken Bus Ride from Hell Soon…will let you know when. I think you’ll like it!
@Sofia – Yes, having Goa in our sights as the destination made it a little more bearable but that train in particular and for 19 hours was simply torture.
@Rowan – Yes, didn’t have two much time in Goa but it was amazing for the 3 days. In Kerala we went to Kovalum. Well, not general Asia, $5 a night dirt cheap, but for what we were getting, I think it was around $50 a night for the two of us? It was a VERY nice place.
@Raam – Dirt cheap for that place was 25 each/night. But in Kovalum, it was even better I think 5/each per night, overlooking the beach. Loved it.
@Lisa – Glad you liked it Lisa. I am certainly looking forward to this Chicken Bus Ride From Hell!
Yikes.. glad you survived. I love when you get through something quite terrible traveling and realize after you can really get through anything. Happy travels… love the videos.
@Ashley – Thanks for the comment Ashley. Yes, I really feel like I could do anything now. Here’s hoping I can remember that experience when on traversing through Kenya and South America.
