New Zealand & Vietnam…Here I Come!

I have got some pretty solid updates today that I am excited to share with you.

First, my application for a Vietnamese visa has been approved. I’ll admit I thought it would take a really long time to complete but as I explain the video it was super quick. I sent it out on a Monday and had it back by Friday! Amazing right? This was my first time applying for a visa for a specific country and was scared to mail my passport to the Vietnamese Embassy in Ottawa. The visa wasn’t cheap so I will have to make sure I get the most out of it. If you need to apply for a visa to Vietnam, make sure you do so in advance and give yourself time in case something doesn’t go as planned.

As well, I have booked my first ticket! Hooray! The ticket is to New Zealand and I will be flying with Air New Zealand, the airline I was most keen to fly with. Things got a little iffy though when I was booking it. I saw a great price and before I could hit ‘book’, someone seemed to have taken the last ticket at that price. I called Air New Zealand but there was nothing I could do about it and I had to book the next fare higher. A bit later however, the price of the ticket dropped again and after giving them another call, they were able to refund me the difference. It is often worth it to make the call and see if someone can help you out. The staff were so lovely and that has me even more excited to fly with them in a months time.

My flight takes off January 5th and I’ll be connecting through L.A. on the way there.

One of the main reasons I was big on flying with Air New Zealand was there Bare Essentials ad that came out recently (I have shared the video below), which showed they have a sense of humour. That’s the kind of airline I want to try. I also LOVE the accent so that will make the super long journey a lot more enjoyable.

Have any of you flown with Air New Zealand before? Or, do you have any tips and suggestions for such a long flight? I have never been on a plane for this long and am not totally sure what to expect.

Anyways, those are my updates for now. With my first flight and Vietnamese visa out the way, I feel like things are really getting started and taking shape. Next I need to apply for my Chinese visa so that I don’t have to do it on the road and I can now officially start to make some plans for saying goodbye to friends and family as well as what I will do in New Zealand.

Below is my video update as well as the Air New Zealand ad I mentioned.

Thanks!

I gots me some tickets and visas. …and here is the Air New Zealand Campaign. Enjoy!
