Three Must-see Destinations in Costa Rica, Mexico and Florida for 2015

Costa Rica Independence DayThe Americas are set to be the holiday destination of 2015 and there are three destinations in particular that shouldn’t be missed: Costa Rica, Mexico and Florida. Each has their own unique attractions that will entertain, bewitch and seduce travellers from around the world, and with cheap holidays available to each destination, they are becoming much more accessible to holidaymakers.

So, with the new year about to begin, here is a quick run-down of why you should head to the Americas in 2015.

Costa Rica Attractions

Independence Day in Costa Rica is a colourful celebration that takes place on September 15th. It commemorates Costa Rica gaining independence from Spain.

On the morning of September 15th a musical parade takes place that features school bands and children in traditional dress. Independence Day is very much a family occasion, with music and dancing both very much to the fore. There’s also a wide range of free activities held throughout Costa Rica on this day.

Another very important day in the Costa Rican calendar is Guanacaste Day. This national holiday, on July 25th, marks the day that Guanacaste province became part of Costa Rica in 1824. Parades, including one with children in masks, folk dances and music are all part of the celebrations.

Mexico Attractions

El CostilloMexico offers visitors a plethora of things to see and do. For history lovers, Mexico’s rich cultural heritage and enduring history can be found throughout the country, with some fantastic examples of Mayan architecture can be found in Cancun.

Cancun’s Yucatan Peninsula is home to several impressive Mayan ruins, including the El Rey archaeological site. Dotted around the Yucatan Peninsula, many Mayan-related sites are in a surprisingly good condition, despite being over 1,000 years old. The most striking of all the Mayan structures are the temple pyramids, such as El Costillo in the Chichen Itza archaeological site in Yuacatan, in south-eastern Mexico.

Situated on the Caribbean Sea, with its beaches and turquoise seas, Cancun is also a popular tourist destination. Just to the south of Cancun is the popular tourist area that’s known as Riviera Maya, where you can swim close to the highly impressive Tulum archaeological site, or swim with dolphins at Xcaret.

Florida Attractions

Space Shuttle AtlantisCheap holidays to Florida, that include flight, hotels and tax, allow you to enjoy many of the spectacular attractions of the Sunshine State – and have plenty of spending money left over.

The Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex offers a great day out for anyone interested in space travel. At the Visitor Complex, the Shuttle Launch Experience is a chance to enjoy what being in a space shuttle is like at launch time, while there’s also the opportunity to get a flavour of an actual space flight.

Seeing dolphins in the wild is an unforgettable experience for any animal lover, and the Florida Aquarium in Tampa offers just that, by offering cruises to see dolphins enjoying life in their natural environment.

Florida is also renowned for its beaches. South Beach, which is part of the famous Miami Beach, is one of the most popular beaches in the US, and is just east of the city of Miami.

There is so much to do in the Americas, and no two destinations are the same, so why wait? Make 2015 the year you discover a different side of North and Central America.
