Since leaving our little Indian village, Jaipur will be our 3rd stop. Known as the Pink City, Jaipur is located in the state of Rajasthan and gets it’s name from the many pink buildings and pink walls that border the old city.
It is here I see my first camel, stay at the fantastic Pearl Palace Hotel and visit the monkey temple!
Here it is again, the Backpack with Brock Foodbyte. This time we are coming to you from India. There are many delicious foods in India and I am a fan of most of them. Unfortunately however, we didn’t get to eat most of the foods during our visit to the motherland. Very unfortunate. We did however get a very good surprise from restaurant you would never connect to India. In fact it’s not at all but they served up one of the best meals we ate in our two month visit. Presenting: The Indian McVeggie
Stop number two on our journey to the Indian north, it’s Mumbai. One of the largest and most advanced cities in India, Mumbai to some is known as Bombay. During our visit, we check out the Gateway of India, Elephanta Island, and give our stomachs a break with some McDonalds. Yes, I know, gross right? When all you’ve been eating is rice for a month, something Western is necessary to balance things out…even if it is McD’s.
The time has come. After 5 weeks in the little town of Srivilliputtur, Darren and I were finally on the move again. Destination: Goa! We expected things would be pretty wonderful in Goa, but getting there wasn’t so easy. 8 hours by bus and another 19 hours on the worst train I have been on yet. This is our story.
No matter how or where you are traveling, you will probably spend some time waiting for your train or your connection in an airport. For some people, this can be boring and annoying. But for others, like myself, this is a fantastic opportunity to either catch up on some things or get creative with the situation.
So whether you are waiting for a bus, a train or a plane – here are 5 ways to preoccupy yourself and help the time go by a little bit faster.
Back home, I get a hair cut every month or two. Things change though when you are travelling, and four months into the adventure I was sporting quite the shag. Due to the stifling heat and humidity in the south of India, this shag of mine was becoming quite the bother, so, I figured it was time to chop it off. Here, is what happened.
It’s a very important part of planning your trip – creating a budget. Though not everyone does it, I think it’s very helpful in staying on track and helping you travel longer and with ease. Use these 5 categories to put your budget together and get an idea of what you can afford each day of your trip. Once it’s all together, you’ll know how much you need to save.
If you have any suggestions, please leave them in the comments below or send them to me correctly.
Though sometimes if not most times it was challenging, our time in the little village of Srivilliputtur flew by. Each day was full of challenges and tests, and as each one passed our skin became a little thicker and patience a little thinner. Nevertheless, we had some fantastic experiences and met some great people. In this video you get some more insights into our life in Srivilliputtur including the revolting river that contained more garbage then water.
