Once again, it almost didn’t make it, blocked by the Great Wall of China. But alas, here it is. The Friday Five.
When you are in Asia, bartering is apart of every day life. You want to buy something? Prepare to barter. Here are 5 tips to make the experience a good one and save you some money.
Hey Brock
I do that all the time in Toronto. James and I are PRO’s at talking ppl down in price
My car – paid 3K less than the MSRP
My New King Size Bed – Talked them down by 400 dollars and got delivery included
Gym Membership – saving 5 bux a month
And your right, being prepared to walk away from a deal is crucial. If you look desperate they wont budge on price!
Loving the videos, loving the site 🙂 cant wait for the next!
Love you and so proud of this entire trip 🙂
Ian
Couldn’t take it any longer – you are haggling, you are not bartering.

@Ian – You would kick butt in Asia then. Thanks for watching the videos and glad you like them. So many more to come! Miss you.
@Steve – Yes, ‘haggling’ is the proper word, but calling it bartering is more fun. Doesn’t make it sound so negative. Even with an English minor on my degree, I feel ok calling it bartering. Perhaps ‘negotiating’ would work as well.
