Spotlight: Eventi Hotel by Kimpton – New York City, USA

Eventi NYC KimptonNew York City: it’s big, it’s loud, it’s one of a kind – and as one of the top tourism destinations in the world, it has no shortage of things to do and places to stay.

In my previous visits I stayed in the boroughs outside of lower Manhattan but this time, I wanted to be right in the middle of it all, the thick of the action.
Looking through the countless hotels and apartments for rent your mind can start to spin. From high end to down right dodgy, NYC has quite the spectrum and something for every budget. There’s a certain point where everything starts to blur together and only those places with a special charm stand out.

That’s how I ended up finding Eventi Hotel by Kimpton.

Hotel EventiDubbing itself as a modern hotel where ‘hip meets elegance and style’, Eventi struck a chord with all the things I look for. A central and accessible location, friendly staff, unique touches and affordability that still leaves you feeling like a king (or queen).

With expectations high, I was to pleased to be checked in and welcomed by the courteous receptionist. If I didn’t have enough to do in my already too short New York visit, she went on to tell me the plethora of activities and services offered at the hotel. More on that a little later.

As I opened the door to my room my jaw dropped. Awaiting me was a beautiful king bed suite with an east facing view perfect for taking in the sunrise on the city skyline. I was also privy to looking up at the Empire State Building. I was a happy boy.

Eventi King RoomSince I could go on and on, reliving each moment of my stay here, why don’t we break down some of the more specific aspects of Eventi to see if this might be the place you are looking for during your visit to NYC.

Rooms: You simply cannot go wrong with the room options at Eventi. You won’t book the most inexpensive room they have to only find yourself in some stuffy corner of the hotel wishing you had some spent the extra money. Each room has been thought through and designed to exemplify comfort and class. While I stayed in a King Deluxe Room which featured a corner view, there are also 4 person rooms with 2 queen beds as well as larger suites if you are looking to spread out a little bit. A few rooms offer a private balcony too. I found my room was quite spacious, the bed was beyond comfy and the bathroom large. I even had my own yoga mat!

Service: Impeccable. Every attendant I dealt with had a smile and warm demeanour. They ensured that my stay was going well and prompted me not to hesitate should there be anything I needed. In a sometimes cold New York, this was wonderful to return to at the end of the day.

Eventi Nightime viewLocation: Situated in mid Manhattan, it was very easy to get to and from the hotel as I went about my day. Just a few short blocks from a number of metro stations, going anywhere that was too far to manage by foot was sped up by a quick ride on the subway. For this visit I was arriving through JFK airport, so a quick train ride to Penn Station had me just a couple blocks from the hotel. If you want to be in the centre of it all, Eventi puts you right there!

Dining & Drinks:  On the second floor of the hotel you will find Humphrey. Although I did not have the time to stop in for a drink or bite to eat, I love that it is a farm to table style restaurant.

Eventi SuiteAmenities: Now, this is where Eventi blows my mind. The hotel offers a fitness centre open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week as well as an onsite spa. While this is often a standard in many hotels, here, they take it to the next level. All guests are welcome to join daily yoga classes, can receive a $10-$15 mini bar credit, a $30 spa credit, enjoy wine tastings every evening from 5pm-6pm, coffee and a newspaper each morning and a turndown service. There are also complimentary bicycles for you to take for a spin around the city. This hotel definitely has amenities figured out.

Eventi Daytime ViewPrice: At the time of writing, rooms were very competitive with other comparable New York City hotels and ranged from $379 to $599 per night with the option to upgrade to a specialty suite.

WiFi: With wifi being such a commonly used amenity by most travellers, I am always pleased when a hotel offers their wifi complimentary to all guests. Eventi’s was both free of charge and available throughout the hotel with a strong enough signal to easily surf the net and plan out the particulars of my visit!

Final Thoughts: If it isn’t already clear, I loved my stay at Kimpton’s Eventi Hotel. With such a competitive market in a dynamic city like New York, Eventi finds the right balance of price and comfort to leave you confident in your choice and guaranteed to come back! While some people like the cookie cutter box hotels offered in many major cities, Kimpton’s properties are one of a kind and Eventi is no exception. My stay was perfect.
