When you putting together your itinerary, it is easy to try to cram in as many sites in as many places as possible. As great as this is, it’s important not to over do it either and leave some time for a break. Whether it’s relaxing on a beach or eating food you’d find at home – taking a break while on the road will prevent you from burning out and rejuvenate you for what is still to come.
This week’s Friday 5 is five tips to making this concept possible.

Hey Brock,
I did two stints of backpacking – one for 3 months to SE Asia and one for 8 months to Africa, Nepal and India and I know what you mean about the downtime. Even though a backpacking trip can be (and usually is) the trip of a lifetime, there are times when the language barriers, the crowded cities, the constant travelling on buses, trains, rickshaws and of course, the heat, can wear you down. I think especially for you, doing a yearlong trip, it is good advice to follow.
Hey Brock!!
Downtime is definitely key! Great work on your adventure. I’ve been following along and I am very proud of you! Hope your having a blast! (I almost threw up during the snake eating vid) haha
Ciao
