Bangkok, Thailand – Pt I: Muay Thai, Racy Shows and Tuk Tuk Journeys

A city he’s been waiting to explore for quite some time, Backpack with Brock makes his way to Bangkok, Thailand. Boy, does it live up to its reputation. In this video I head out to explore the city, visit the Khao San Road, watch some Muay Thai Boxing, have dinner at the unique restaurant Cabbages and Condoms and some other crazy things along the way. Have a look!

  1. Brock I have a few suggestions for when you get to India. There are herbal and tea farms in the south may be interesting. The Ajanta and Ellora Caves are an 8hr.train ride from Bombay (Mumbai) a World Heritage site they are awesome. Also for food try dosa,a typical Indian dish. It’s made with rice and is rolled up like a pancake. You may want to ask to hold the curry! The videos are great by the way. Stay safe.

  2. Interesting idea for a restaurant. Looks like you need a shave, young man! Perhaps a Friday Five should cover strategies on how not to get lost.

  3. The videos are looking really awesome Brock!

I can’t wait to see Cambodia and Vietnam! I’m just going to continue watching a pretending I’m traveling until I get to take off again…

    Stay safe 🙂

  4. @Aunt Lois – Hey! So great to hear from you. I have noted down all of your suggestions. I didn’t know you traveled there. Glad you are enjoying the videos and I will do what I can to stay safe.

  5. @Taylor – I don’t get lost that often, though it is tricky when all the signs are in another language, especially with different letters then our own.

  6. @Teresa – Loved the restaurant. Didn’t have a mirror to shave though. Perhaps a Friday Five on getting found once you are lost might be more helpful, as getting lost is clearly inevitable.

  7. @Lindsay- I think that sounds like a good idea. I think you’ll like what I have in store for Cambodia and Vietnam!

  8. Brock, I think that some strategies you have refined to navigate in a land of a foreign tongue and methods to get where you want (esp when you find yourself in a place you don’t want to be) might be very helpful to fellow travellers.

  9. #1. These cabs were somewhat regualar!!

#2. Bangkok looks something like Toronto!! Are they at all alike?

#3. Boxing in this video was kinda like UFC, which I find uninteresting!! A band at fighting?? That’s a little different.

#4. Is there any reason that lady was sleeping on that bench, and why did you tape her?? LOL

#5. The tuk-tuk looks something like a small cab/limo idea. Was it specialized to take people to temples, or is that just where you were going??

#6. Which buddha was bigger?? The one in this video, or the one in Sukothai?? I could say, but, since you saw them in real life, your saying would definatley be more accurate!!

#7. A nice view from the Golden Mount!!

#8. I thought you’d get lost!! Being in a huge forigen city and all!! It wouldn’t take me long to get lost.

#9. Interesting name for that restaurant!! I only have one word on the concept of it….interesting!!! At least the logic behind that concept was…..logical!

Another AMAZING video Brock!!! Keep ’em comin’!! What a city….
