Once again, I can’t enough of marching bands.
As a follow-up to the Vietnamese marching band I recently shared with you, I now present an Indian marching band.
This group was parading through the little town where I was living in the south of India as part of a wedding procession.
Being one of only three visitors, everyone knew who I was, so when I pulled out my camera to snap a photo, the entire group stopped to make sure I got it.
They were standing right in the middle of the street and holding up traffic but insisted I get this picture.
Mission Accomplished.
Although the photo is good, I love video for a reason because the music, and dancing in the video footage I got of this moment really brings this photo to life. You can see it in my Srivilliputtur India video.
I don’t know what it is about India that gives me such an interest in returning when I see a photo like this one. However, when I close my eyes and actually take myself back to my time there, I quickly recall the frustrations and anxiety it inflicts on you.
Perhaps I will return, just not right before monsoon season.

Brock, nothing is as cool as a marching band or street performers. Great shot! I sure do miss India these days.

I miss India! I was there in November which was definitely wedding season. Frequently stumbled onto a street full of performers and marching bands!

My first trip to India was in the middle of wedding season and the nightly wedding marching bands were fun, even if they did often wake me up from a good night’s sleep!
