Though sometimes if not most times it was challenging, our time in the little village of Srivilliputtur flew by. Each day was full of challenges and tests, and as each one passed our skin became a little thicker and patience a little thinner. Nevertheless, we had some fantastic experiences and met some great people. In this video you get some more insights into our life in Srivilliputtur including the revolting river that contained more garbage then water.

It’s true that the majority of the country has a massive sanitation problem where disease is easily spread. For the benefit of the people I hope this is soon to change for them. Backpackers are lucky because mose hostels/hotels/etc. will have running water (NOT to drink) to shower, cleanse, and do laundry with.
The garbage is disgusting, surprising they don’t suffer from diseases due to the insanitary conditions. What were the rats like there? Did they have any rats? Had a stream something like that in Dominican Republic that we had to pass every day to get to the beach and I was pregnant and felt like throwing up with the smell every time. How did you fare? What is it like to be celebrity?
Im pretty sure the chaos of India would drive me insane. Although that pool in the last scene looked very peacful

Darren – We were lucky to have water, but only because it was delivered everyday, at 5:30, by a tractor. I was NOT getting up out of bed to get that on film.
@Teresa – Yep, there were rats alright. But not as many as I expected, lots of cockroaches though. I managed ok, don’t have a super weak stomach and as for the celebrity, the excitement wore off after a while. It would take forever to do everything.
@Phil – Great to hear from you and welcome to the adventure. I upload the videos as I go, but usually when I get somewhere with a fast internet connection. It can be tricky in Asia.
@Jordan – Yes, an AMAZING pool. That’s the next video. Staying calm and collected or rather, not going off the wall in India is certainly a challenge. We weren’t always successful.
