  1. It is beautiful. Definite idea for next summer’s travels. I’m always game if there is a promise of a beautiful sunset and the colour of the water is amazing!

  2. AWWWWWWWWWWWWW THIS IS THE SWEETEST THING EVER!! MADE ME REMEMBER ALL OF MY FAV MOMENTS IN THAT CITY! SO GLAD YOU ENJOYED IT!!!!
THANKS FOR THE SPECIAL SURPRISE 🙂

  3. Congrats on encouraging people to avoid paying the fare for the donkey taxis up the stairs. So many travellers make the mistake of doing it because “it’s the thing to do.” But it really isn’t anymore.

There are many reported cases of severe neglect of these animals. And even cruisecritic.com (because so many cruise ships port there) recommends giving money to a charity which will provide care to these mistreated animals.

    Good job, BackPackWithBrock!

ps: I was one of those travellers back a few years that “did it because it was the thing to do” and I regret it to this day.

  4. I’d also recommend taking a sailboat cruise out to the volcano and hot springs, it’s amazing! I went on a 2 hour tour (it cost 20 euros), with an hour long stop to wander around on the volcano- even though there are usually lots of other people checking it out at the same time, it’s big enough that you can take wander off on your own, away from the crowd.

  5. @Anne – Ya, sadly I didn’t have time for a sailboat cruise nor to visit the volcano. Next time I guess? Thanks for leaving the tip!
