The Friday Five – Escaping a Bad Travel Buddy

While we could all wish for perfect travel buddies, the odd time, we find ourselves with someone who isn’t fun to travel with. They are grumpy, boring, and clearly aren’t appreciate the opportunity they have in front of them. Funnily enough, it can sometimes be very difficult to shake these people and get back on your own.

This Friday, it’s 5 tips to help you lose that travel partner who just wont get the hint.

  1. This is a TOUGH one that I think every traveller that’s been at it for a while will encounter!

Like you said, being honest is great. And we don’t have to say “I don’t want to travel with you” ’cause we dont’ wanna hurt anyone’s feelings (well, at least I don’t!).

I’ve said stuff like: this is probably the only time I’m going to visit these places so I’m really looking forward to seeing exactly what I want when I want so that I can get the most out of them, and I’d hate for you to have to gear your trip around my likes & dislikes. So I’m just planning on going at it alone for a while.

Sometimes works….sometimes? You wake up the next morning and they’re still there at the hostel wondering what we’re going to do that day.
    Oh !#$%

  2. @Darren – HAHA! So true. And SO frustrating. Take the kind way at first then keep at it till they get the picture I presume.
