London, England, like many major cities around the world, is compiled of multiple neighbourhoods and districts. An attempt to visit all of them in one short trip would prove essentially impossible. Instead, simply ask: ‘Where is Earls Court?’
One of the sections on offer in London that is certainly worth checking out would be Earls Court. With it’s numerous attractions, cultural history, previous celebrity residents and film appearances, Earls Court is certainly not a dull place.

Getting There – Where Is Earls Court?:
Earls court is located in London’s Royal Burough of Kensington and Chelsea. Focused around Earls Court Road, it is bordered by the sub districts of Kensington to the North, South Kensington to the East, Chelsea to the South and West Kensington to the West and about 5 km south west of Charing Cross.
The closest tube station would be Earls Court Station which can be found at the intersection of the District and Picadilly Lines.

Earls Court Exhibition Centre
One of the largest indoor arenas in the country, it is also used as a concert venue. The newest portion of the building, ‘Earls Court Two’ has no pillars, can hold around 19,000 people and has hosted countless big acts like Pink Floyd, Queen, Celine Dion, U2 and the Spice Girls. It was also once home to the Brit Awards before their move to the O2 arena. If you can make it for the 2012 London Olympic Summer Games the ECEC is where the Volleyball arena will be located.
Celebrities
Over the years, numerous famous Brit’s have called Earls Court home including director Alfred Hitchcock and entertainers John Barrowman and Freddy Mercury. If you had met Diana, Princess of Wales and asked her – ‘Where is Earls Court?’ she would have likely smiled, as she lived there before marrying Prince Charles. She had been quoted as saying she spent the happiest time of her life in Earls Court.
Royal Albert Hall
Referred to as ‘The Nation’s Village Hall’, Royal Albert Hall is a must. Although it is not in the heart of Earls Court, it is easily accessible in nearby South Kensington. Officially opened on March 29th, 1871, it has hosted over 150,000 events, from The Proms (eight weeks of classical music concerts in the summertime) and the 1968 Eurovision Song Contest to The Killers and even graduation ceremonies. The venue was to originally be called ‘The Central Hall of Arts and Sciences’ however this was changed by Queen Victoria, who renamed it ‘Royal Albert Hall of Arts and Sciences’ in memory of her late husband and consort, Prince Albert.
Filipino Culture
Ask a member of London’s Filipino community: ‘Where is Earl’s Court?’ They too will know where to direct you. Earls Court is the centre of the Filipino British community. You’ll find Filipino restaurants, shops and supermarkets and even Filipino banks! This is not the first cultural community to call this district home. Earls Court is often called Kangaroo Court or Kangaroo Valley due to its once large Australian community.
If you have the time to explore even a couple of the Earls Court attractions mentioned above, you’ll have a great visit. You have to stay somewhere so, consider staying at one of the many Earls Court hotels and hostels if you haven’t before. If you’re booking last minute and can’t find anything in Earls Court remember the London underground makes the city very easy to get around. Pick any of the budget hostels and cheap hotels in London, grab an Oyster card, hop on the tube and make your way over to Earls Court.
