La Paz, Bolivia – The Magnificent Wrestling Cholitas

Bolivia. Bolivia. Bolivia.

Oh, how you amaze me.

I honestly knew nothing about the country when I set out for South America. Looking at a map it seemed like a good way to get from Argentina to Peru.
The British gals, Katie, Leila, and Julia had a fantastic time in the country and convinced me I should work it into my itinerary.

Thank goodness I did!

After my time in Mendoza and Salta, Argentina, I hopped on a flight and headed north!

While I only got to visit La Paz, I had enough of a taste of the culture that I know I have to get back there someday to further explore. There’s the salt flats, jungle and so much more.

During my visit I learnt Spanish and the history of Bolivia from a super cool guy named Pablo.  He will also take you golfing at the highest golf course in the world! Look him up!

Unfortunately, I lost all my footage from my time with Pablo. Womp womp.

I did however manage to find the video files from my other main experience in La Paz – The Wrestling Cholitas.

What a night!

Basically, a bunch of Bolivian woman in traditional attire get together and wrestle WWE style.

Yes, it’s as bizarre as it sounds.

Much to my surprise and the many other tourists and locals in the venue, the women beat each other up, threw one another into the crowd and put on quite the show.

I’m not a fan of violence but this was all in good fun. Not a person in the room had a bad time, except maybe some of the wrestlers who lost their fights.

I could tell you more but this is one of those cases where only the video will do it justice!

If you get to La Paz, on a Sunday, I highly recommend you check it out. Visit the Cholitas Wrestling website for more info!
