Great tips Brock but you neglected to say what one does who wants to travel and has a child (like Brian) who would have to remain home alone….some of us would like a home to come home too! Hope you are feeling better soon. Dave and I both agree that travel is the most awesome experience that anyone can have….only 8 more months to wait!

Just a quick question to do with the Friday Five. When each individual number comes up, and then the voice of the number (ex. Number 1 comes up on the screen, “1……” I hear) comes with it, is that the recording of the kids from New Zealand?? I think it sounds like them, but am just wondering upon this!!

@Lesley – Thank-you. That is my point. I am saying that people who consider themselves ‘older’ don’t think they can do it. I am saying they can. Heck no, I don’t see no grim reaper I see taking on the world. See you in Kathmandu. p.s. you are so not older generation.
@Steve – Good point Steve. This post was actually recorded from Chiang Mai (the posts are a bit delayed) but that’s why I threw in the ‘knock on wood’. I’ll certainly have a follow up on that one. Thanks for the comment.
There are a lot of skeptics when I tell people I’m planning on taking a year off and traveling. Nobody thinks they can do it but, really, it’s not as crazy as it sounds.

This video is really inspiring. You summed up so many things here especially the need for a ‘can do’ attitude. If you believe you can do something, no matter what position you are in personally (eg financial, work etc) then put the effort in and you can do it (within reason). It’s so great to see someone personally explain this and so well. Brock, you’re doing an amazing job with this website and I’ll take your advice and cut down on the tea so I can afford some sort of world trip in a few years time. Have a great rest of your trip!
P.S. I thought you were recording your videos with a big cam corder but that digi cam has good quality considering how small it is!

@Phil – Good to hear from you Phil. Yes – cut out that tea. It’s so worth it. As for the camera, ya it’s a Panasonic Lumix and I love it. I’m even surprised by the quality.
