This guest post goes out those of you in the UK! If you are looking for something to this weekend, be sure to give this one a read! Enjoy
We know that there’s a lot of chocolate kicking around at this time of year, but with all the bank holidays that surround Easter, you’ll need a few things to do in the UK; especially if you have a family to entertain. Fortunately, there’s plenty to do. Here are some of our highlights:
Naturalist, John Muir, became famous for his work in preserving open spaces in both the UK and US. Born in Dunbar, a 134 mile national pathway has been named after him and the festival is set to celebrate this event with film, theatre, poetry, live music, fireworks, and general merriment.
Vintage Festival, Loughborough
Party like it’s the 19th century at Loughborough’s Easter Vintage Festival. A steam engine train will be brought to life on a preserved line near the town. As well as this, there will be an exciting fayre that will provide plenty of real ale, Edwardian craftsmanship, live music, and craft stalls.
Egg Hunting With The National Trust And Cadburys
The most delicious day out on our list, The National Trust had paired up with Cadburys this Easter to set-up interesting and fun egg hunts throughout some of the most beautiful places in the country. Enter your postcode in the trail finder, and you can find an egg hunt near you.
Unlike any other wildlife park, Howletts really makes for a special day out. Conservation and enrichment are Howletts’ top priorities, so you can visit exotic and endangered animals in the best of situations. Over Easter, Howletts will be providing animal talks, mask making workshops, and Easter treats. Don’t miss it.
Easter doesn’t have to be all about chocolate: you can enjoy a whole variety of delectable meals from artisan producers. Learn some fantastic culinary tips from expert chefs and have fun at all the food-related stalls.
Sky Ride is working off their Easter eggs this year by organizing a free bike ride for the whole family. The route will be inspired by the works of Beatrix Potter – you’ll get to see some of the scenes that inspired this fantastic author.
Just in case you haven’t had enough chocolate yet, you can head to Kew Gardens and make your own unusual and wacky chocolate bars. You’ll be able to come up with an individual name for your treat and then wrap it up in snazzy packaging.
That combination might sound like a disastrous combination, but rest assured that no-one will be behind the wheel after a few tipples. At The Cornish Cyder Farm, you can visit the on-site animals and taste brandy that has been made in these parts for more than 300 years. If brandy isn’t your thing, you can sip the award-winning ciders. For a less alcoholic option, enjoy a relaxing afternoon cream tea!
So, have you been to any of these before? Think you’ll check one out? No matter what you do, eat lots of chocolate and have a great long weekend!
