The Tibetan Adventure

If you watch only one video on Backpack with Brock – make it this one.

While traveling through Tibet, you must have a guide with you. During my 10 day Tibetan adventure, along with Selma and Esther from the Netherlands, we had a fantastic guide name Sonam. As a way of showing our graditude for the amaying experience he provided us and everything we learned, I put together this video of our journey through Tibet, set to some traditional Tibetan music we listened to for hours and hours on end.

In 7 months of video blogging, this is my favourite one yet! Enjoy.

  1. Wow Brock that is beautiful.
You almost had a Yak attack!
Makes me want to put Tibet on my Bucket List.

  2. This is one fantastic video!

I’d suggest to any travellers thinking of going to Tibet (which you SHOULD do!) to book a truly Tibetan guide, rather than a Chinese guide. You will get a stronger sense of the Tibetan traditions without any avoidance of certain facts or information. Also, it’s great if you are able to support as many of the Tibetan merchants when you’re there.

It only take a few Google searches to learn about the strained relationship between Tibet and China so I’ll leave it at that!

  3. @Darren – Or they could get in touch with me and I would gladly share with them the details of the fantastic company I went with.

  4. Amazing video – so inspiring!! I can never get enough of watching/listening to prayer flags flapping in the breeze – it sums up travel in Asia for me!!

Am heading this way shortly, hopefully – how did you organise the trip? Was it fairly straightforward?

  5. @Megan – Myself as well, just love the flags. So beautiful strewn across the sky. Once I finally found a good company, it was a piece of cake just had to say where we wanted to go and they set things up. It was shockingly easy and turned out perfectly.
